I am grateful for your words. My friend Fran did that for me recently, reminded me that I only had to change my mind.
I had sustained a brain injury two years ago, and felt disconnected from my normal joy, ease, and grace and other people. I was isolating—it’s hard to heal a disordered brain with the disordered mind!! She held space for me and spoke affirmations for changing my perspective! We become what we think about all day long!
It’s a beautiful reminder of how affirming someone’s worth isn’t just a kind gesture — it’s a profound act of empathy and connection. I especially resonate with the idea that sincere acknowledgment has the power to shift someone’s perspective. We never really know how much someone might need to hear those words in that exact moment — and what a gift it is to be the one who gets to share them.
Love this Manuel. Recognizing the efforts, attributes, and beauty in others is such a powerful source of connection that empowers both sides. Genuine praise is an effort worth pursuing daily and you deserve it for this post.
Yass!! A lil magic goes a looong way, Manuel! Complimenting people tells a lot on your outlook in life! You never know, you might be changing someone’s life through that compliment! What if they’re experiencing a first, and already anxious on it? What if a compliment was all that they needed go hear that day!? I always think about it like that, and it has helped me! 💛
I’m working on this. I often hold back encouragement, fearing it might be rejected—silly, I know.
Recently, I read “A Few Kind Words” by Tracey Gates, and it was a huge reminder to always share encouragement with others.
Thanks for another reminder, Manuel!
Thanks, Jason. I will check that book out
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy it!
Do you mind if I share a link to this article in my newsletter soon?
